Security

"But he who listens to me [wisdom] shall live securely.  And shall be at ease from the dread of evil." Proverbs 1:33
MEERKATS ON ALERT

Our family used to love watching the Animal Planet show Meerkat Manor.  It was a good, clean show that not only had a great deal of suspense, but provided a lot of good life lessons.  The biggest issue to the meerkat's, aside from finding food for the day, was the issue of security.  It was imperative that the family was protected; especially the babies who were left under guard back at "home" while the rest of the clan went scavenging for food.

There was one episode, however, in which the guard on duty left her post to "fraternize" with a "player" from another family.  An unwise move, it left the babies open to attack (evil) and completely unsecured (as well as insecure as evidenced by their behavior).  It also resulted in the meek mearkat guard being exiled from the family.

Is it not memorizing how we can all seem to do the most unwise and idiotic things on impulse, knowing the danger it will cause?  Being secure, both safety-wise and the secure in oneself, is highly dependent on recognizing the wisdom of a situation, and exercising the discipline to follow it.

Want real security in life?  Don't follow what you  know is wrong or unwise.  Seek what is right and act according to doing the right thing.  It will not only guarantee your security in life and protection from evil, as promised in Proverbs, but it will also keep you from exile island.
